So to interrupt the "picture flood" I will show you what I cooked today, o should I better say yesterday?! I tried myself to "Pommes Anna". I got the recipe from Katja’s Blog “Fierce Food” (thanks for that ;))
I started the first steps yesterday and finished and eaten it today =)
As many potatoes as it needs to fill the spring form
70 g of butter
200 ml broth
Spices (salt, pepper, chilli…) (here you can use whatever spices you want ;))
How it’s done:
I started it yesterday because it really takes a long time (but it’s definitely worth it =))
So first of all you have to peel the potatoes and cut them into slices. I peeled by hand and let the machine slice them ;)
During that you can already melt the butter (be careful it shouldn’t get to hot!) and add a little bit of your spices.
Then you cut a piece of baking paper for the bottom of your spring form. Place it in the form and butter the paper and the edges of the spring form with the melted butter.
After that you place the first layer of potatoes in your baking pan.
You brush the potatoes layer with butter and put a bit of the spices on them. Continue like that till al potatoes are used ort your pan is full ;)
You do not have to add the spices to every layer as it would get to salty that way.
After that pour the broth over the potatoes and cover them with an sheet of baking paper.
When you put the pan in the oven place it an sheet of foil (I used baking paper, but I thin aluminium foil would be better ;)), some of the broth will run out of the spring from and that way you don’t have to clean the hole oven ;).
Then it will stay in the oven for 1 – 2 hours (depends on how big your spring form is) at 160° Celsius. You can check every once in a while with a sharp knife to see if the potatoes are smooth.
Then cool the Pommes Anna in the spring form and under pressure (I put a plate and a pot with water on top of them). When it’s cool cover it and put it in the fridge. And that was the moment where I went to bed =D
So today I just removed the Pommes Anna from the spring form and cut it in small pieces (like a cake ;)) and placed it on the baking tray. Be careful to remove all of the baking paper on the bottom of the potatoes!
Then put the baking tray in the oven and let it reheat at about 225 ° C for like 15 – 20 minutes.
Now you finished and you can enjoy your meal =D
Till then ;)
